Welcoming & Toddler Friendly Recipe - A recipe that welcomes all to the kitchen for a simple, low-ingredient recipe full of flavour!

These fudgy 3-Ingredient "Brownies" are just so tempting and delicious! Made with ingredients you may already have at home too!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 120g spotted, ripe bananas

  • 20g cocoa powder (unsweetened)*

  • 160g cups peanut butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional but we love & add it!)

**Cocoa powder can be in various variations: black cocoa, dutch cocoa, red cocoa etc. – there are differences in each, such as the fat content and color varying. In recipe, use any your heart (or toddler) desires!

PROCESS:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Line a 4-in. x 4-in. square baking dish with parchment paper or apply oil/butter/etc. to the tray to avoid sticking!

Ready for the fun part? One-bowl this beauty!

  • Weigh and smash those bananas until smooth.
*Get creative! Letting little hands chose the smashing instrument of choice helps I find! Fork, potato smasher, and other safe utensils work wonders!

  • Weigh both the cocoa powder and the peanut butter and add them in the bowl.

  • Mix the ingredients up until all becomes one.
*You may have some banana chunks and that’s okay!*
*Be mindful the batter will be thick!*
*Again, mixing utensil is your choice! My little one chose a whisk once, and through trail and error they learned that with thick batters, the whisk may need to be substituted for something else! The beauty of learning.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 15 minutes or until the batter reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.
*Temperature taken with a kitchen thermometer*

  • Once complete, remove from the oven and let cool completely before slicing as it will still feel unset in the middle. With time, and it’s temperature lowering, it will come to a fudgy, brownie!
*For a greater fudge consistency, leave it in the fridge to cool down ... if youc an wait that long*

STORING:

  • To store brownies, place in a sealed container in the fridge! Not only will this help keep them fresh longer but would also change the consistency to a more fudgy brownie (if you like them cold!). If you chose to, pop a piece in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to warm them up again and enjoy!

  • Rule of thumb: Brownies stay fresh, stored in an airtight container in the fridge up to 1 week. They freeze well for up to 3 months! Just remember to thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.

NEXT STEPS:

  • I would love to play around with substituting Peanut butter for other nut butters and even sunflower butter for those with allergies!
*If you beat me to it and do try it please send me an email or let me know!*
